Honda And Yamaha Collaborate On Electric Motorcycles In Japan, How About In Indonesia?
JAKARTA - Two Japanese motorcycle giants, Honda and Yamaha, have officially established strategic cooperation. This collaboration focuses on the development and production of electric motorcycles, especially for the Japanese domestic market.
Honda will supply two of its flagship electric motorcycle models, namely EM1 e: and Benly e:, to Yamaha. These two models will be marketed in Japan with Yamaha branding. This bold step certainly attracts the attention of automotive fans around the world, including Indonesia.
When confirmed regarding the possibility of a similar collaboration in Indonesia, the President Director and CEO of PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), Dyonisius Beti, gave a firm answer.
"It's just cooperation in Japan, in Indonesia there are no plans," he said.

In line with Dyonius, Takaaki Totalinga as Deputy Director of Marketing of PT YIMM also emphasized that this collaboration is specifically for the Japanese domestic market. "That's not the plan, it's only for the Japanese domestic market," said Takaaki.
Furthermore, Takaaki explained that the collaboration between Honda and Yamaha in Japan is currently more focused on the 50cc scooter segment and electric motors.
"It's been a collaboration since when I forgot, but for a 50 cc scooter and an electric motorbike," he added.
For information, Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki have previously formed a consortium to standardize exchangeable electric motor batteries. This agreement aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and build better charging infrastructure.
