China Encourages Cultural Tourism Growth, 50 Projects Have Been Agreed

CHINA - China is increasingly serious about utilizing its cultural wealth and history to encourage the tourism sector. One of its latest steps is the launch of about 50 cultural tourism projects involving large investments and cross-sectoral collaborations.

Amid efforts to recover the post-pandemic economy, these projects are expected to strengthen China's tourist attraction in the eyes of local and international tourists.

Citing the Antara page, 50 cultural tourism projects with a total contract value of 51 billion yuan (Rp112 trillion) have been agreed in Hubei Province, central China. This agreement was reached at a conference of international travel agents held on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

The event was attended by travel agents from a number of major domestic resort cities as well as representatives from nearly 30 countries and areas that are sources of tourists inbound for China.

In addition, leaders of various leading domestic tourism groups participated, with the aim of accelerating the recovery of the tourism sector inbound and promoting Hubei as a leading international tourist destination.

At this conference, 17 city-level areas throughout Hubei signed contracts for 50 cultural tourism projects with a total investment value estimated at 59.5 billion yuan.

Hubei also introduced five exclusive tourist routes for international tourists. Some of the iconic destinations displayed on this route include the Shennongjia World Heritage Site, Mount Wudang, and the Tiga Ngarai area.

Carrying the theme of developing cross-border tourism and strengthening inter-district cultural exchanges, the conference of international travel agents in 2024 was organized by the Hubei Department of Culture and Tourism together with the Shiyan City Government. The event attracted more than 300 participants from various related sectors.
