Google Meet Will Present AI-Based Background Maker Features On Android

JAKARTA Google Meet, a video conferencing platform, launched a background or Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based background feature last July last year, but this feature is only available on the website version.

In the near future, this capability will be available for the Google Meet app on Android devices. Recent findings from the Android Authority show that Google is trying to bring AI-based background makers to Meet users on mobile phones.

This feature will be launched in version 2024.10.06.682972205. When viewed via the Gmail application, Google Meet will add the Background Create option in the Stock menu. This feature can be accessed before joining the meeting or during the meeting.

Apparently, this feature is still being developed because the option to make this AI-based background is still empty or does not display any menu. Most likely, the way it is made is the same as the one available on the web version.

Users only need to enter a special command to get the desired background until the sample image is displayed. Users can choose the style they want, such as fantasy, photography, utilization, and others.

This AI background feature will not be available to free users. The reason is, the Google Meet web version only brings this feature to subscribers who have add-on Gemini for Google Workspace or subscribe to Google One AI Premium.

It is not yet known for certain whether this feature will also be available on iOS and iPadOS as this AI-based background maker uses Gemini support. To date, Gemini's access to iOS and iPadOS is not as easy as on Android devices.
