KPK Listens To Suggestions From Detainees' Families To Repair Detention Centers
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) claimed to have heard suggestions from the families of detainees languishing in detention centers (rutan) to make improvements after the disclosure of illegal levies (extortion) practices. They even opened a dialogue room.
"That's where we can get feedback-feedbacks, especially what we have to improve," said KPK Secretary General Cahya H. Harefa to reporters quoted on Saturday, October 11.
Cahya said there were many requests submitted by the detention family. However, not everything can be granted.
According to him, the KPK can only improve the condition of the detention center in accordance with the laws and regulations. "Not all requests can be met," he said.
"But according to the rules, according to the authority of the Acting Head of the Detention Center, we can do it," continued Cahya.
Not only facilities repair, extortion prevention is also carried out in various ways. One of them is searches, said Cahya.
"We make sure that there are no more things that are not allowed to enter or be in the prison environment, they are in the prison environment," he explained.
"Then we also do screening for signals. So we monitor the signals in this prison environment. We hope that no more cellphones will be used illegally in this detention center," said Cahya.
