Aldila Sutjiadi Beat Grand Slam Champion At Wuhan Open 2024
JAKARTA Indonesia's mainstay tennis player, Aldila Sutjiadi, along with her Canadian partner, Leylah Fernandez, qualified for the quarter-finals of the Wuhan Open 2024.
Both got the top eight tickets after beating the fifth seed and Grand Slam champions, Belgian Mertensmen and Zhang Shuai from China, with a score of 6-1 and 6-0.
This victory raised Aldila's ranking. For the time being, Aldila's ranking has risen to 40th in the world from previously being in 45th place for women's doubles tennis players.
"We played focused and solid from the start. We supported each other at every point. This victory means a lot to us," Aldila said in a statement.

Aldila said that Leylah performed so well even though he only rested for a while after taking part in the women's singles number.
"Stamina Leylah is extraordinary, this is our capital to face the next match," said Aldila.
In the quarter-finals, Aldila/Leylah will face second seed Nicole Melichar Martinez from the United States and Ellen Perez from Australia.
The match will be a big challenge. However, with solid performance and good cooperation, Aldila believes she can go further.
"We will continue to fight and give our best in the quarter-finals," said Aldila.
