AMD Expected To Launch New AI Chip At San Francisco Data Center Event

JAKARTA The Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is expected to announce some of the latest artificial intelligence (AI) processors and other chips at an event in San Francisco on Thursday, October 10. This is part of the company's efforts to expand its market as an AI chip supplier in the Nvidia-dominated market.

AMD is likely to detail the MI325X chip and the promised next generation MI350 will be released this year and next year, after previously being introduced at the Computex exhibition in Taiwan in June. The MI350 series chip features increased computing and memory power, designed to compete with Nvidia's Blackwell architecture.

In addition, AMD is also expected to announce a new server central processing unit (CPU) and PC chip equipped with a stronger AI computing power. The MI300X AI chip released late last year has been rapidly produced to meet the surge in demand, particularly for AI-generative products.

In July, AMD increased their AI chip revenue forecast to 4.5 billion US dollars (Rp70 trillion) for the year, up from the previous target of US$4 billion (Rp62.7 trillion). Demand for the MI300X chip continues to increase due to the development and implementation trend of generative AI products.

The launch of AMD this Thursday is not expected to have a direct impact on Nvidia's data center revenue, given the demand for AI chips exceeding current availability. Analysts expect AMD to report data center revenue of 12.83 billion US dollars this year, while Nvidia is expected to report revenue of 110.36 billion US dollars from the same sector.

Data center revenue is often an indicator for the needs of AI chips used in building and running AI applications
