More Than 1,500 People In Lebanon Killed In Israeli Attacks

JAKARTA - More than 1,500 people in Lebanon have been killed and about 8,000 injured since Israel escalated its war on Hezbollah last month.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said about 1.2 million people had been displaced in the country since fighting escalated last month.

A quarter of Lebanon's territory is now under orders of Israeli military evacuation, according to the United Nations.

The humanitarian crisis in Lebanon is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Israeli airstrikes have not only increased but have also expanded to areas that were previously unaffected and are increasingly targeting important civilian infrastructure, "the United Nations Humanitarian Affairs Coordination Office (OCHA) said in a situation update released Wednesday, October 9.

The evacuation orders in more than 100 villages and urban environments in southern Lebanon continue to force people to flee, the report said.

On Wednesday, Israel's Defense Forces (IDF) issued a new emptying order for certain buildings in the Haret Hreik and Hadath areas of Dahiyeh, the southern suburbs of Beirut and Hezbollah's headquarters.

Israel said it would soon target the location.
