Create An Environmentally Friendly Aviation Industry, Minister Of Transportation Budi Karya Supports Palm Oil Downstream

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi supports efforts to downstream palm oil to create a more environmentally friendly aviation industry. This includes the shipping industry.

Currently, continued Budi, Indonesia is talking with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) for the manufacture of bioavtur.

"We are targeted to be full bioavtur by 2060. Therefore, since the beginning, I have appreciated downstreaming and we have to think in that direction. But not only in the industrial world, in our transportation sector there have been many challenges," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, October 8.

Furthermore, Budi stated, in line with efforts to use bioavtur in the aviation industry, 30 percent of biodiesel (B30) has been used in the shipping industry. The hope is that in the future B100 will also be used so that fuel is cheaper and sea toll programs can be helped.

"We carried out a movement where at the beginning we announced the Sea Toll Road, it was less than 5 routes. Now there are 39 routes. So we follow up on the ideas of Pak Jokowi and Mr. Jusuf Kalla," he said.

"Our brothers in the East really need a sea highway. If the fuel is cheaper, it would be better. Because more than 59 percent of the ship's cost is diesel," continued Budi.

Meanwhile, the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla also conveyed the importance of downstreaming palm oil because it can produce better and higher added value.

There is a simple formulation that in order to progress we must plant, pick, process, and sell. These four steps must run. Don't just 3 steps to plant, pick, sell. There must be preparations. Thank you Mr. Saleh Husin for his good book to run," said Jusuf Kalla.
