There's No Safe Way Patients Leave Hospitals In Gaza When Israel Orders Evacuation

JAKARTA - Palestinian health workers ordered by Israel to vacate the hospital said there was no safe way to go and there was no place to go as the Israeli military resumed its operations in northern Gaza.

Dr Hussam Abu Saifiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza said his party received an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) notification on Tuesday, medical staff and patients had to be evacuated from the hospital within 24 hours.

In a voice message sent to reporters, Abu Saifiya said the Israeli military called him directly and in a language that "threatened" to him patients and staff had to be evacuated.

The Israeli military has ordered the emptying of three hospitals in northern Gaza Kamal Adwan, Al-Awda and Indonesian Hospital according to Doctors Without Borders and the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Dr Abu Saifiya told CNN on Wednesday, October 9, Israeli tanks were getting closer to the hospital and the sound of explosions could be heard everywhere.

The hospital has more than 54 patients, including children, who are in need of treatment and have to be transferred to another hospital. About 220 medical workers are also still in the hospital.

Mohammad Salha, acting director of Al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza who was also ordered to be voiced said the facility would not be vacated as long as there were still patients who needed medical treatment.

Some underwent surgery, including women who gave birth through caesarean surgery.

"Where will these people go?" he told CNN. "If an evacuation occurs, no one else will be able to provide health services," he added.
