Arctic Open 2024: Ginting Falls Immediately

JAKARTA The men's singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting immediately went home early in the first round of the 2024 Arctic Open.

Ginting, who is the eighth seed in the tournament, lifted his suitcase after losing to the rubber games 21-19, 23-25, and 16-21 against China's singles, Lu Guang Zu, in Vantaan Energia Areena, Finland, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, evening WIB.

In this duel, Ginting, who won a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, had to struggle to bounce back from behind before the interval to win the first game.

Victory was in sight when this badminton player from Cimahi, West Java, dominated most of the second game.

He even had the upper hand when he led by a margin of 10 points 16-6. However, seven consecutive points of the opponent after that changed the situation and forced the match into the deciding game.

In the last game, Ginting also started well and was one point ahead at the interval. However, everything turned around and Lu Guang Zu could no longer be chased afterwards.

This achievement is Lu Guang Zu's second victory out of a total of seven clashes with Ginting. These two victories also occurred in a row in their two meetings this year.

Previously, another victory was secured by Lu Guang Zu when he met Ginting at the Malaysia Open 2024 in January 2024. At that time Ginting gave up the straight set.

Ginting is one of nine Indonesian representatives who played in this tournament. He was also the first representative to be eliminated from this event.
