Response To Prabowo And Jokowi's Meeting, Gerindra: Exchange Information About The Transition Period

JAKARTA - The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, opened his voice about the meeting of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) with the elected president Prabowo Subianto behind closed doors in the City Forest by Plataran, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, October 8 evening.

According to Dasco, there was nothing special about the dinner. Because the two of them often meet and eat together.

"If you say what the meeting is for, these two figures often meet and occasionally meet outside of meals," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 9.

Although they did not know in detail about the two-hour meeting, the Deputy Speaker of the DPR assessed that the two may be discussing the transition to government which will soon be led by Prabowo.

"The talk of the conversation I don't know exactly what, because it's been more than 2 hours. But at least, exchange information and talk about a transition that will soon have a leadership relay on October 20," said Dasco.

Dasco admitted that he had not met Prabowo after last night's meeting. So he doesn't know whether there are talks about the cabinet or not with Jokowi.

"I don't know exactly what the contents of the conversation about the cabinet or not, but usually in general there may be one or two delivered, and I also don't know how the response will be. Because I haven't met you since last night, only this afternoon I plan to meet you," explained Dasco.

Previously, Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana said that during the meeting, Jokowi was trying to establish communication with Prabowo.

"It is true, tonight, Tuesday, October 8, 2024, there is a dinner between President Jokowi and the elected president, Mr. Prabowo Subianto in Plataran, Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area. President Jokowi always maintains close and intense communication with the elected president at every opportunity, both in formal forums and informal meetings," Ari said through a written message to the media crew.

Ari said that togetherness between the two is needed to ensure a good transition of government.

"Persamaan antara dua pemimpin bangsa ini sangat diperlukan untuk memastikan proses transisi pemerintahan berjalan dengan baik dan lancar Pada saat makan malam dibicarakan berbagai hal, terutama terkait keberlanjutan program-program pemerintahan ke depan," jelas Ari.
