Apple Updates 'Vintage' Device List With This MacBook And IPad Model

JAKARTA Apple has updated its list of products that fall into the vintage category. The term vintage product is given to devices that have stopped being distributed for more than 5 years and less than 7 years.

Apart from updating the vintage product list, Apple also added an outdated list of devices. When it falls into the outdated category, Apple will not provide hardware service support, including spare parts for service providers.

Apple's newest vintage or old age product added is the 12-inch Retina MacBook model released in 2017. In addition, there is a sixth-generation iPad with Wi-Fi and Cellular support that is included in the list.

These two devices are only included in the vintage category because they are old enough. For spare parts support, devices such as the MacBook Retina can still be repaired with genuine parts from Apple.

Meanwhile, devices that fall into the outdated category are the iPhone 6, series ranging from basic models, 6 Plus, to 6s Plus. Not only the iPhone 6, but Nano series and the shufflelip are also in the outdated category so parts are no longer available.

The iPhone 6 series has been on the vintage list since 2022. This device should have been moved to an outdated list because it is 10 years old. Apple released the iPhone 6 series in September 2014.

Meanwhile, Nano's password and shuffle shuffle are much older than the iPhone 6 series. The portable music player, which was popular in his time, was released in 2005. That way, these two devices are almost 20 years old.
