Osama Bin Laden's Son Deported From France, Prohibited From Returning Again

JAKARTA - Omar Binladin, son of founder of Al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, was deported from France after posting comments on social media suspected of terrorism.

France is known to have long been Omar's residence. French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, who signed the deportation order himself.

"Mr Binladin, who has lived in the Orne region for several years as a couple of British nationals, posted comments on his social network in 2023 that glorify terrorism," Retailleau said on his social media account X., quoted from Reuters, Tuesday 8 October

Retailleau did not specify the exact date and the destination country of Omar's deportation.

"The administrative ban ensures that Mr. Binladin cannot return to France for any reason," continued Retailleau.

Omar could not immediately respond to this decision.

According to local weekly newspaper Le Publicateur Libre, Omar attracted the attention of French authorities through his social media posts on the anniversary of his father who was killed by the United States (US) military in 2011.

However, Reuters could not find the social media post.
