Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Encourages ASEAN State Cooperation To Handle TIP

Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto encourages cooperation between Southeast Asian countries or ASEAN in dealing with criminal acts of trafficking in persons (TPPO).

This was said by Hadi while attending the ASEAN Political Security Community Council to-28 meeting in Laos, Tuesday, October 8.

He explained that TIP in Southeast Asia is often used to commit other criminal acts such as online or online fraud.

This has caused more and more residents to become victims of online fraud committed by the victims of the TIP.

"ASEAN needs to follow up and give a special agreement to ASEANLeaders Declarations on Combating in Persons Caused by Abused of technology," Hadi said in the meeting forum as reported by ANTARA.

If this problem is not handled together, Hadi is worried that in the future ASEAN will turn into the center of criminal acts in the fields of fraud and trade.

"Alih menjadi epcentre of growth, kawasan Asia Tenggara bisa menjadi epicentre of scams," ujar dia dalam siaran pers tersebut.

Hadi continued, ASEAN itself has agreed to cooperate in law enforcement in the Mutual Legal Assistance ASEAN Agreement.

Hadi hopes that the agreement can be the main basis for the formation of cooperation between Southeast Asian countries in handling TIP cases.
