Stellantis Immediately Starts Production Of The Latest Jeep Compass In Italy, Debuts Next Year

JAKARTA - The multinational automotive company Stellantis has confirmed that it will start production with the latest version of Jeep Compass for next year.

Launching from Reuters, Tuesday, October 8, this medium-sized SUV will enter production lines in Melfi, Italy. The model will carry the base of the STLA Medium platform developed by Stellantis which is claimed to have flexibility for various configurations.

According to this parent company, the latest Compass will be presented in the gasoline engine version. Then, over time it will launch in versions of electric (EV) and hybrid vehicles.

The STLA Medium platform has been used in several models under Stellantis, consisting of Peugeot 3008 and 5008, Opel Grandland, and will be present at Citroen C5 Aircross and DS 7 of the latest generation.

The start of production of this new model is expected to help Stellantis, at least in part, revive its production decline in the pizza country, which in recent months has been affected by market demand and factory reconfiguration for its newest car launch.

It was reported that the output of the Stellantis factory in Italy fell more than 30 percent in the first nine months of this year. Meanwhile, factories in Melfi experienced a 62 percent decline.

Full-year production in the country is now seen below 500,000 vehicles in 2024, compared to 751,000 last year.

The latest compass will be equipped with a millid-hybrid powertrain with a 1.2 liter gasoline engine powered by 134 dk paired with a dual electric motorcycle of 28 dk which is optimized together with a transmission of six dual-clutch accelerations.

For the electricity version, Jeep will launch various variants depending on the power and size of the battery. It is estimated that it will use technology from Peugeot with a 316 dk electric motor and a 96 kWh battery that can provide 700 km of travel distance.

The SUV will go on sale for the European market from 2025 and will be available globally in 2026.
