Jokowi Regarding Judges Asking For A Salary Increase: Everything Is Being Calculated

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that the problem of the welfare of judges is currently still under study and calculation by the relevant ministries.

This was conveyed by Jokowi in response to the demands of the Indonesian Judge Solidarity (SHI) which was submitted to the Supreme Court, Monday (7/10).

"Everything is still under study and calculation at the Menpan, Minister of Law and Human Rights, and also the Ministry of Finance. Everything has just been calculated and calculated," said Jokowi as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 8.

Previously, the Indonesian Judge Solidarity (SHI) submitted four demands during an audience at the Supreme Court, one of which was related to the welfare of judges who had not changed since 2012.

The first demand, SHI supports the leadership of the Supreme Court and the Indonesian Panel Association (IKAHI) to encourage changes to Government Regulation Number 94 of 2012 concerning Financial Rights and Facilities of Judges under the Supreme Court.

Second, SHI encourages the Draft Law (RUU) for Hakim's Position to be re-discussed for the creation of stronger supervision to judges.

Third, SHI wants the Contempt of Court Bill or Humiliation of Court to be realized immediately. This bill relates to guarantees for the safety of judges because many judges are under pressure.

Fourth, the forum also wants government regulations that ensure the safety of the judges' families.
