Vladimir Putin's 72nd Anniversary Today, No Big Celebrations

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin celebrates his birthday Monday 7 October. Today, he is 72 years old.

There is no big celebration. Like the previous years, Putin celebrated it at the highest state office or the president's office.

Citing Tass, this morning Putin began with congratulations from the leaders of other countries via Telegram communication and phone calls.

In the afternoon, Putin is scheduled to hold a number of closed-door work meetings.

At night, Putin will meet with CIS heads of state, who gather in Moscow ahead of the summit tomorrow Tuesday 8 October.

Putin has never spoken publicly about his birthday. The head of state of Russia tends to attract public attention on his birthday because he is deemed unnecessary.

"This is my birthday, this is not a national holiday. For me, it is not polite to exaggerate the importance of this event," said Putin.

Despite avoiding the public spotlight, Putin did not necessarily refuse the gift given. However, it is more selective in this regard.

As in 2022, Putin received a tractor gift from his Belarusian partner, Alexander Lukashenko, to coincide with his 70th birthday.

In 2017, former Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov provided Alabai's puppy named Verny for Putin who was on his birthday. It's no secret that Putin does knock a dog pet.
