Alert! Kaspersky Reveals Phishing Fraud Under The Guise Of Joker: Folie Dieux

JAKARTA - Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky discovered the latest phishing scam scheme amid the euphoria of the film screening "Joker: Folie Laughs Deux" in theaters around the world.

In its findings, Kaspersky experts managed to identify phishing scams involving false offers to subscribe to watch the film for free.

On the fake website, users are asked to enter their credit card information to register.

Once the scammers have access to the details of the victim's card, they will use it for fraudulent transactions or for selling on the dark web.

In addition, there is also a scam under the guise of a Joker film brand to lure victims into fake investment schemes, free rewards, or similar traps.

In this scheme, cybercriminals create phishing websites that claim to offer free access to the film.

When users try to play the video, they will be directed to another page that offers lucrative rewards.

In the case revealed by Kaspersky, users are asked to provide personal information, so that the perpetrators can contact them with false investment opportunities, or credit card details, for example, to pay for gift delivery.

To protect oneself from phishing-related risks, Joker movie fans must take precautions while exploring online content, taking into account the following:
