China Open 2024: Coco Gauff Gets Final Tickets
JAKARTA The sixth ranked tennis player in the world, Coco Gauff, came from behind a set to beat Paula Badosa and reach the final of the China Open 2024.
The 20-year-old US athlete lost in the first set 4-6 before rising and winning the next two sets 6-4 and 6-2 on Saturday, October 5, evening WIB.
The clash between the two players was a rematch from their meeting in the last 16 in Rome, which Gauff won. This result at the same time made him equalize his winning-loss record to 3-3.
Victory over Badosa is the 20th win of the WTA 1000 year. It was the most victory he had ever won in a season.
Gauff is the fifth player to win 20 wins or more in the WTA 1000 event before the age of 21.
He joined Victoria Azarenka (20 wins in 2009), Annieszka Radwanska (20 wins in 2009), Caroline Wozniacki (27 wins in 2010), and Iga Swiatek (22 wins in 2022).

This final ticket gives Gauff the chance to win a WTA 1000 second-level title and fifth overall in his career. Gauff is in sixth place in Race to the WTA Finals behind Jessica Pegula and ahead of Emma Navarro.
His trip to the final of his second WTA Tour this season automatically strengthens his chances of qualifying for the WTA Finals in Riyadh for the third year in a row.
In the final round, Gauff will face Czechs who are not seeded by Karolina Muchova or the host's favorite who won the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Zheng Qinwen.
