UIPM Campus Not Recorded In PDDikti, Raffi Ahmad's Doctoral Degree Has No Legal Power In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Celebrity Raffi Ahmad is again in the public spotlight after being given a honorary doctorate by the Universal Institute of Professional Management (UIPM) some time ago.

Raffi Ahmad received a honoris causa doctorate in the Event Management and Global Digital Development from the President of the UIPM Thailand Professor Kanoksak Likitpriwan.

Because of the awarding of the title, UIPM is now attracting public attention because many netizens question the operational status, accreditation, office location, and campus managers are questioned.

According to the Director of the Executive Board of BAN-PT, Tjokorde Walmiki Samadhi, who is tasked with accrediting universities in the Higher Education Database (PDDikti), said that if UIPM was not registered with PDDik Dikti Kemdikbudristek,

"This UIPM is limited to my knowledge is an international online educational institution that is not registered with PDDikti Kemdikbudristek," said Tjokorde Walmiki Samadhi.

Therefore, Tjokorde emphasized that UIPM has no right to issue a diploma with the National Certificate Numbering from the Ministry of Education and Culture. Then, academic degrees issued by educational institutions that are not registered with PDDikti such as UIPM are not legally recognized in Indonesia.

But as long as the UIPM does not issue a national diploma, it does not violate the regulations. "So basically no education regulations have been violated," he said.
