PLN EPI Collaborates With Baubau City Government Through The Generation Gasification Program
PT PLN Energi Primary Indonesia (PLN EPI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Baubau City Government to provide a cleaner energy supply through the gasification program for power plants in the area.
Director of Gas and BBM PLN EPI, Rakhmad Dewanto explained, this collaboration marks the first step in developing gas infrastructure which will reduce dependence on fuel oil (BBM) and present liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the main energy source.
Rakhmad said, through this program, it is hoped that it can reduce carbon emissions by 1.45 million tons per year and increase fuel cost efficiency to IDR 7.2 trillion per year.
"With the gas consolidation terminal, we hope that the city of Baubau and its surrounding areas will get a cleaner and more efficient energy supply. This will also open up opportunities for local industrial development," Rakhmad said in a statement to the media, Friday, October 4.
He added that this gasification program includes more than 22 generators that previously used fuel, which will switch to liquefied natural gas. The first phase of this project is projected to be completed by 2025 with full support from the Regional Government and international business partners.
