Died Unnaturally, Central Sulawesi Police Unloaded Prisoner's Grave For Autopsy

PALU - Central Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulawesi) conducted an exhumation or demolition of the tomb by the authorities for the purpose of examining forensic medical science / autopsy of Bayu Adityawan (BA)'s body of a Palu Police detainee.

"The search of the tomb is in accordance with the request of the family," said Director of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the Central Sulawesi Police, Kombes Pol Parajohan Simanjuntak, at the grave excavation site, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, October 4.

He explained that the exhumation was carried out for the purpose of an autopsy as a step to reveal the cause of BA's death, where the Palu Police detainee stumbled upon a case of domestic violence (KDRT).

"There are two forensic doctors that we appointed from Parigi Moutong Regency in the hope of neutrality and independence in the autopsy process," he said.

He stated that the autopsy results were carried out by a forensic doctor, then the samples would be sent to a forensic laboratory in Makassar, South Sulawesi for further examination.

"The possible results were obtained about one 30 days after the exhumation," he said.

Meanwhile, BA Family Lawyer Natsir Said said that his party asked the National Police Commission (Kompolnas) to participate in supervising the exhumation carried out by the police.

"Ekshumasi adalah capaian dalam advokasi yang bisa kami lakukan untuk mengungkapkan penyebab pasti kematian BA," kata dia menuturkan.

While waiting for the results of the exhumation, his party continues to oversee the legal process for the cause of his client's death, including the question of the two police officers who have been detained by the Central Sulawesi Regional Police are suspected of molesting BA.

"We hope that the investigation process is truly independent, not a special order that will obscure the facts," he said.
