Causes To How To Prevent Sudden Death Syndrome

JAKARTA - Senior actress Marissa Haque breathed her last at the age of 61 on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Marissa's sudden departure was called without any history, giving rise to allegations that she had sudden death syndrome or sudden death syndrome (SDS).

According to the Healthline report, until now, it is not certain what caused SDS. However, gene mutations have been associated with many syndromes under the SDS umbrella, but not everyone with SDS owns the gene.

There are other possible genes related to SDS, but have not been identified. And some of the causes of sudden death syndrome are not genetic.

Some drugs are also said to cause syndrome that can cause sudden death. For example, long QT syndrome, which is a heart electricity conduction disorder that can cause rapid and irregular heart rhythms (arithmia).

This long QT syndrome can occur due to the use of drugs such as antihistamine, dekongestan, antibiotics, diuretics, antidepressants, and antipsychotics.

In addition to this risk factor, certain medical conditions can increase the risk of SDS, such as bipolar disorder. Lithium is sometimes used to treat bipolar disorders, this drug can trigger heart rhythm disorders.

Then, heart disease, epilepsy, arithmetic, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy also risk causing sudden death in a person.

Likewise, some people with SDS may not show symptoms until they start taking certain drugs. Then, SDS induced by drugs can appear.

Unfortunately, the symptoms or first signs of SDS can be sudden and unexpected deaths. However, SDS can cause symptoms of dangerous signs such as chest pain, especially during exercise, loss of consciousness, difficulty breathing, dizziness, heart palpitations or feeling palpitations, and fainting which cannot be explained, especially during exercise.

Talking about prevention, early diagnosis is an important step in preventing a fatal episode. If you have a history of SDS in the family, a doctor may be able to determine whether the patient also has syndrome that can cause unexpected deaths.

If so, patients can take steps to prevent sudden death, for example avoiding drugs that trigger symptoms, such as antidepressants and drugs that inhibit sodium.

In addition, immediately treat quickly if you have a fever, exercise carefully, practice good heart health measures, including consumption of balanced food, and carry out regular checks with doctors or heart specialists.

In addition to regularly consulting with doctors, talking with mental health specialists about mental health and conditions is also recommended. (Ant)
