Allegedly Alami Harassment In Panti, 12 Children In Tangerang Moved To RPS
TANGERANG - The Tangerang City Government, Banten, has transferred 12 children of residents of an orphanage in the Kunciran Indah area, Pinang District to the Social Protection House (RPS) belonging to the Social Service following allegations of harassment in an orphanage.
Tangerang Mayor, Dr Nurdin in Tangerang, Friday said the Tangerang City Government would fully oversee the legal process related to the alleged harassment case.
"We deeply regret this incident. The Tangerang City Government will ensure that each victim gets adequate assistance, and we will oversee the legal process so that it runs according to applicable regulations," said Dr Nurdin in his statement, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, October 4, 2024.
He also conveyed that the Tangerang City Government has provided psychological assistance services for victims through the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB). This assistance is expected to help victims and their families in the recovery process.
"We will try our best to support the psychological recovery of victims and ensure the safety and comfort of other students in orphanages," he said.
Furthermore, the Acting Mayor instructed to increase socialization related to child protection in orphanages and other educational environments, including Islamic boarding schools. He also emphasized the importance of stricter supervision and education on children's rights to prevent similar incidents in the future.

"We hope that the public will be more courageous in reporting all forms of violence so that they can be immediately followed up by the authorities," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Department of DP3AP2KB, Tihar, emphasized that his party had provided assistance to victims of alleged harassment, starting with providing psychologists and also the health team.
"So yesterday we evacuated 12 children. Since we received reports from the community, we have provided intensive assistance. And we also thank the police for carrying out their duties, which until now we have received information that two people have been arrested," he said.
