Google Launches ChromeOS 129 With New Features

JAKARTA Google launched ChromeOS 129, a software update for Chromebooks, on Wednesday, October 2. This latest operating system (OS) includes many improvements, including new features.

Through the Chromebook Community page, Google says that the ChromeOS 129 version will present the Quick Insert button. This feature will quickly address the user's needs, such as editing the text being written, adding URL links, and more.

One feature that will be added to Quick Insert is Help Me Write. Gemini's Artificial Intelligence (AI) model-based tool can be used to quickly compile new texts, change emojis or GIFs, search for files on Google Drive, and much more.

"The Quick Insert tombol is launched exclusively on the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Plus, but existing Chromebook users can use the feature with keyboard shortcuts," Google said.

Although currently the feature is still exclusive, Google plans to expand its features to more laptops next year. This new capability will be included in the regular Chromebook and Chromebook Plus.

Google also adds the ability to easily control light brightness on Chromebooks. Through this latest OS, users can adjust the screen brightness and control the light sensor directly through the Settings app.

"This new feature allows you to set the screen brightness to the right level and enable or disable the surrounding light sensor as needed in the Settings app. This update makes it easier to use devices and helps manage battery life," Google said.

There are many other features that Google adds to ChromeOS 129. Users will get the Live Translate feature, get tools to control keyboard brightness, keyboard shortcuts with speech options, to authentication factors in the form of PIN.
