3 Suspects In The East Java Provincial Government Grants Bribery Case Remain Inaugurated As Legislators, Including Anwar Sadad

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named 21 suspects in the bribery case for the management of grant funds for community groups (pokmas) from the East Java Provincial Budget in 2019-2022.

Of that number, 3 people are still appointed as members of the DPR RI and DPRD for the period 2024-2029, including the former Deputy Chairperson of the East Java DPRD Anwar Sadad who is now a legislator in Senayan.

Responding to this, KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata said that his party had actually informed the General Elections Commission (KPU). This step was taken before the inauguration.

"The KPK has informed those with the status of suspects who have been elected as members of the DPRD or DPR to the KPU," Alexander told reporters, Wednesday, October 2.

According to Alex, the matter of inauguration is not the domain of the KPK. However, he believes that the KPU cannot just allow a suspect to be sworn in.

"Certainly the KPU will carry out or propose the inauguration of DPR members based on applicable regulations or regulations," he said.

"Perhaps because there has been no court decision or there has been no forced attempt from investigators to detain the suspect, the KPU still proposes that Ybs be inaugurated. It is better to ask the KPU," explained Alex.

Apart from Anwar, another suspect in this case who was also inaugurated was Moch. Mahrus, who was inaugurated as a member of the Probolinggo Regency DPRD and Hasanudin, was inaugurated as a member of the East Java Provincial DPRD. These three people, based on information gathered, became suspects for receiving bribes with Bagus Wahyudiono as Sekwan staff.

As previously reported, the KPK has again investigated the alleged bribery of grant funds for community groups or pokmas from the East Java Provincial Budget for the 2019-2022 Fiscal Year. The determination of 21 suspects is the development of the case that ensnared the former Deputy Chairperson of the East Java DPRD, Sahat Tua, P. Simanjuntak.

In this case, investigators searched a number of offices in the East Java Provincial Government some time ago. As a result, documents and electronic goods have been confiscated regarding the alleged bribery case of grant funds.
