Preparations For The TNI Anniversary Make You Congested, Heru Budi: Ask The Pangdam

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono opened his voice about traffic jams caused by preparations for the 79th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) in recent days.

Ahead of the TNI's birthday commemoration which was held on Saturday, October 5 in the National Monument (Monas) area, TNI trucks often pass on a number of roads around Monas.

The trucks go hand in hand quickly and overtake other vehicles on the road. It is not uncommon for traffic lights to be slashed in order to facilitate the speed of their vehicles.

Heru handed over the matter to the Commander of the Jaya Regional Military Command (Pangdam) Major General TNI Rafael Granada Baay.

"You can ask the Pangdam, yes," said Heru when met in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, October 2.

According to Heru, the DKI Provincial Government only facilitates the needs of TNI members to prepare a series of events for the 79th Anniversary. One of them is temporary housing in Jakarta.

"The provincial government facilitates all needs, including the Pangdam asking for flat areas that can be placed by members during the TNI Anniversary," said Heru.

On the one hand, Heru appealed to offices in Jakarta to implement a work from home (WFH) policy during the TNI Anniversary celebration.

"Later, before the 5th, it will be there after the core ceremony, there will be a parade. We are advised to work from home. Yes, please understand this. Right, the name is the anniversary of the TNI Anniversary, October 5. After that, it will also be finished," he said.

The peak of the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the TNI will take place on October 5, 2024 at the Monas Cross Field, Jakarta. This event will be led directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo, and will display the defense of troops and defense equipment parades from the three TNI dimensions.

"After the ceremony, a parade will be held. So, the parade of vehicles and defense equipment. The length of the march is about four kilometers," said the Commander of the TNI Military Police Center (Puspom) Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto when met by reporters at the Cilangkap TNI Headquarters Field, East Jakarta.

The defense equipment parade is planned to pass through the Monas, Sarinah route along Jalan MH Thamrin, then rotate at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, and return to Monas.

Yusri said the defense equipment parade was open to the public so that people could watch along Jalan MH Thamrin.

The TNI has also collaborated with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to provide parking pockets around Monas and ministry buildings along Jalan Medan Merdeka.

This is done to facilitate people who want to come using motorbikes.

With this defense equipment parade, added Yusri, some of the main roads will be closed. His party ensures that they will design a diversion so as not to disturb residents who are active.

"Later, we will coordinate with the Transportation Agency or Polda Metro Jaya regarding traffic flow engineering," said Yusri.
