Police Arrest Gang Of ATM Money Burglary In Tasikmalaya

TASIKMALAYA - The Tasikmalaya City Police arrested a gang of ATM money burglars who had previously been chased because the perpetrator fled by car after being caught by the victim in Tasikmalaya, West Java.

"This arrest is thanks to the quick work of a joint team from the Police and the Satreskrim Resmob Unit," said Tasikmalaya City Police Chief AKBP Joko Sulistiono as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 1.

The arrest began with a report from the community who became victims of a gang of ATM money burglars in one of the mini markets, Mangkubumi District, Tasikmalaya City, Monday (31/9).

The victim and the perpetrator had a commotion, then the victim, who was suspicious of the gang, reported it to the nearest police station, not long after the police arrived, and the gang immediately fled using a Suzuki Ertiga car.

The police then chased the other perpetrators using patrol cars and coordinated with all police stations in the Tasikmalaya City Police jurisdiction.

The police finally stopped the perpetrator's car in the Kadipaten Police area, Tasikmalaya Regency or 33 km from the beginning of the chase location in the Mangkubumi area.

The police and the community arrested three people who broke into ATM money, while the other perpetrators fled towards the Cikidang River and a ravine around the scene.

The police chief said that the pursuit of the perpetrators was finally successful in coordinating the entire ranks of the Mangkubumi Police, Jabisan Police, Ciawi Police, and Kadipaten Police.

"The speed of our members in responding to information and acting has yielded positive results," he said.

The police and the community are currently still pursuing other perpetrators who fled by combing the escape location and narrowing the space for the perpetrators to avoid running away from the area.

Meanwhile, the Tasikmalaya City Police Inafis Satreskrim Unit Team is currently investigating the crime scene in the ATM case accompanied by BCA, the result of which found pieces of a tooth in the place where the ATM card was entered.

The police also checked CCTV around the ATM location and asked for statements from a number of witnesses, as well as ATM officers for the purposes of the investigation into the crime case of breaking into ATM money.

The police have currently detained three perpetrators to undergo further legal examination, and three more people are still being chased.
