Pramono On Jakarta Gubernatorial Election Debate: I Will Not Offer Something Too High

JAKARTA - Candidate for Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta number 3 Pramono Anung-Rano Karno has begun preparing for the inaugural debate of the Jakarta gubernatorial election held by the General Election Commission (KPU) of DKI Jakarta on Sunday, October 6.

Pramono admitted that the presentation of the vision and mission and the ideas he would offer with Rano in the debate would not be grandiose. The former Cabinet Secretary only announced the program plans that could be realized.

"I will not offer something that is too high, but cannot be executed. That's why I prefer what can be done directly and the benefits can be felt in five years in our leadership period," said Pramono at Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, Tuesday, October 1.

Pramono claimed that the vision and mission he had arranged with Rano was not much different from the programs that had been run by former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and Anies Baswedan.

Thus, the Jakarta cagub-cawagub program for the PDIP and Hanura parties can already be described by the people of Jakarta.

"What is Mas Anies and Pak Ahok's program is relatively not different from me, because I am a real field person. So far, I am a policymaker in the central government, so I know what to do for Jakarta," Pramono explained.

Previously, DKI Jakarta KPU member Astri Megatari said that the three pairs of candidates who will run in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada will undergo a three-time debate session. The first debate will take place on October 6.

"For the first debate, we are still coordinating with the organizer's tv regarding the implementation, however. For the schedule, God willing, it will be held on October 6," he explained at the Jakarta KPU office, Monday, September 23.

Astri has not been able to announce the theme of the debate that will be followed by the candidate pair of Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta number 1, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana 2 and Pramono-Rano 3. The Jakarta KPUD is still formulating the theme of debate.

"So we will formulate with the formulating team for the debate material for each of the first, second and third debates," said Astri.

Plans for the debate mechanism, he continued, the pairs of candidates for governor and deputy were jointly present in every debate session.

"Later on, the debate will be in a duration of 150 minutes with 120 minutes of debate and 30 minutes for ad break. Divided into 6 segments, roughly like that. So indeed the segmentation is the same as the presidential election debate which also lasts for 6 segments," he explained.
