Lebanese Army Denies Withdrawing Troops On South Border

JAKARTA - Lebanese soldiers have denied reports that they withdrew from the southern border position several kilometers after Israel's ground attack on the country.

The military unit (Lebanon) deployed in the south is repositioning certain observation points in their areas of responsibility, "the Army Command said as quoted by CNN, Tuesday, October 1.

Soldiers are said to continue to coordinate with the UN Temporary Forces in Lebanon.

Prior to the Israeli attack, Lebanese security sources told CNN on Monday, September 30 Lebanese troops had evacuated observation posts on the southern border and moved to barracks in border villages.

Meanwhile, most recently from the Israeli invasion, an Israeli military attack killed a Palestinian militant in a refugee camp in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported an attack on Monday, September 30 evening at the Ain Al-Helweh refugee camp targeting Munir Muqdah's home, commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade in Lebanon and father of the killed militants, the report said on Tuesday, October 1.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, the military wing of the Palestinian political party Fatah, announced the death of Hassan Munir Muqdah in what they described as a murder operation.
