Israeli Intelligence Service Shin Bet Claims To Thwart A Number Of Iranian Attack Plans

JAKARTA - Israel's security agency Shin Bet warned in a statement that Iran had stepped up efforts to carry out the country's killings.

Recently, several assassination plans were thwarted, including some who are in a very advanced stage, whose details have not been released to the public, the Shin Bet said.

"In recent weeks, the Shin Bet has detected a significant increase in Iran's efforts to advance a assassination attack on targets in Israel," the agency said.

Shin Bet further revealed that Iran had attempted to recruit Israeli civilians to injure senior officials in the country.

They recorded the recent arrest of Moti Maman, who was smuggled into Iran twice and assigned to help kill the prime minister, defense minister, or head of the Shin Bet.

The agency also said Iran had been trying to recruit Israeli citizens online. Iranian operators found Israeli targets on social media, including channels related to cryptocurrencies, finance, and job searches, the Shin Bet said.

It said Iranian agents would offer the Israelis a high salary for carrying out various tasks, including "putting money or telephones in various areas in Israel, distributing leaflets, painting graffiti and even burning cars and injuring people physically," according to the Shin Bet.

"The Shin Bet asks the public to pay more attention and be more careful in any case that raises suspicion, especially if the number involved is large and does not match the nature of the requested task, or if the requested task is unusual," the agency said.

Shin Bet also asked the public to report suspicious activities.
