Foreign Minister Katz Says Israel Will Not Agree To Ceasefire Until Hezbollah Is Stripped

JAKARTA - Israeli Foreign Minister Katz has conveyed a message to a number of countries that Israel will not agree to a ceasefire in Lebanon without a number of conditions.

Public broadcasting institutions Kan said that the Foreign Minister Katz conveyed in messages sent to more than 25 of his colleagues in various countries, including Germany, England, Italy, and Canada.

Foreign Minister Katz reportedly said the only acceptable situation for a ceasefire was if Hezbollah withdrew from the Israeli border and was north of the Litani River, stripped.

"Only the full implementation of all UN Security Council resolutions on Lebanon will result in a ceasefire," Foreign Minister Katz said.

"As long as this doesn't happen, Israel will continue its actions to ensure the safety of its citizens and the return of the northern population to their homes," he explained.

Kan said ministers involved in talks for the ceasefire also received the same message.

There was no comment from Hezbollah regarding Katz's statement, quoted from Anadolu.

Israel and Hezbollah have been involved in cross-border attacks over the past year, along with the eruption of the Israeli conflict with Hamas in Gaza last October.

Last week, Israel stepped up its attack on Lebanon targeting Hezbollah's targets, with Israel peaking announcing its attack on Beirut on Friday managed to kill Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasollah.

Earlier, the explosion of pagers and walkie-talkies used by members of the group exploded in almost the same time two weeks ago, causing about 40 people and injuring nearly 3,500 others.
