Damaged Campaign Tool In East Jakarta-Jakut, RIDO Paslon Accuses There Are Persons Who Feel Threatened

JAKARTA - The candidate pair for governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta number 1, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO) regretted the destruction of campaign props along Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, East Jakarta and North Jakarta.

Spokesperson for the RIDO Pair, Billy Mambrasar, said that the destruction of the campaign prop was a destructive act.

"We regret that this action took place at a democratic party in Jakarta, an area that is a barometer for other regions in Indonesia," he said in a statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, September 30.

He suspected that the cheating was carried out by an individual who felt threatened by the large community support for the candidate pair (paslon) Ridwan Kamil-Suswono.

"Destructive actions like this will not extinguish the fire of our spirit. In fact, this is a sign that we must increase our campaign efforts," he said.

His party will replace the damaged campaign props (APK), but more importantly it will add dialogue spaces and continue to invite the public to participate in a campaign full of ideas and cheerfulness.

He emphasized that the RIDO pair did not want the Jakarta Pilkada to be filled with hatred and fraudulent practices. They want the existing energy to be used to produce big ideas and ideas, produce and create solutions to overcome the problems faced by the people of Jakarta.

Ridwan Kamil-Suswono, said Billy, will continue to try to bring this spirit to ensure Jakarta will be better.

"We want Jakarta to be known as a city with cheerful democracy, not a place where violence replaces ideas," he said.

RIDO is even more enthusiastic about continuing to campaign for ideas. "And we invite all parties to participate in maintaining this peaceful election with great joy," he said.

For the destruction of the campaign props that have occurred, Billy has fully handed over to those who have the authority to follow up. In addition, he ensured that the RIDO pair would not stop spreading messages of peaceful campaigns, cheerful and full of ideas.

They will also continue to present more environmentally friendly campaign props so that they can be reused after the campaign period is over.

Referring to Law (UU) Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (Pemilu), as long as it is installed according to applicable rules and regulations, campaign props are protected by these rules.

In accordance with Article 280 of the Election Law, every executor, participants and campaign teams are prohibited from damaging and or eliminating props for election participants. Criminal sanctions for violators of the rule are contained in Article 521 of the Election Law.

The exact sound of the article is every executor, participant and or election campaign team who deliberately violates the prohibition of the implementation of the election campaign as referred to in Article 280 paragraph (1) letter a, letter b, letter c, letter d, letter e, letter f, letter g, letter h, letter i, or letter j shall be punished with a maximum imprisonment of two years and a maximum fine of Rp. 24 million.
