The Last Plenary Meeting, Puan Alludes To The Pandemic Until The 2019-2024 DPR Challenge Election

Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, alluded to the various challenges faced by members of the Indonesian House of Representatives while chairing the last Plenary Meeting of the DPR for the 2019-2024 Period. Starting from the COVID-19 Pandemic to the dynamics of the 2024 General Election.

"Without aasa, masa bakti selama lima tahun telah kita menjalani sejak tanggal 1 Oktober 2019 dan hari ini kita berada pada hari terakhir," ujar Puan memulai pidatonya dalam Rapat Paripurna terakhir DPR periode 2019-2024.

"During our work in the 2019-2024 period, we, the nation and state of Indonesia, face various challenges in realizing the goals of the state," added the first woman who served as Chair of the DPR RI.

Puan then revealed the various challenges faced by DPR members for the 2019-2024 period. Among other things, the COVID-19 pandemic which has an impact on the health crisis and economic crisis, as well as regional geopolitical conflicts that have an impact on the global food and energy crisis, including Indonesia.

Another challenge, said Puan, is that national development, which is in a situation of economic recovery, which must also solve structural problems in various fields, requires a strong state financial capacity.

"And the 2024 election which is full of dynamics which is a new experience for the nation and state in carrying out democratic practices," explained Puan.

"We can face all these difficult journeys and go through together. We are strong against them because they are united, and we unite because we have a strong spirit of mutual cooperation. That is us, Indonesia. Strong because they are united, united because they are strong," he continued.

It is known that the Plenary Meeting for the Closing of the First Session Period of the 2024-2025 Session Year will be the last meeting of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period. This plenary meeting also closed the working period of members of the DPR RI for the 2019-2024 period which had been held for 5 years.

The last Plenary Meeting of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period was held at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 30.

While chairing the Plenary Meeting, Puan was accompanied by Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Lodewijk F Paulus, and Rachmat Gobel.

This last plenary meeting began with the ratification of a number of Draft Laws (RUU) into law (UU). After that, the reading of 4 reports or the results of discussions from the Angket Committee and the Supervisory Team was followed by decision making.

After that, the agenda was continued with a closing speech for the DPR session by the Chairman of the DPR RI, Puan Maharani.
