Harley-Davidson Recalls More Than 41.000 Motor Units In The US, Here's The Cause

JAKARTA - Harley-Davidson submitted a voluntary recall to the United States safety regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Quoting from Rideapart, Monday, September 30, the affected motorbikes consisted of 41,637 units consisting of Street Glide, CVO Street Glide, Road Glide, CVO Road Glide, and CVO Road Glide ST models in 2024.

The report states that the flow of the series of cables on the machine tub is the root of this recall problem. It is said that this component can rub against the corner of the engine like an engine so that it has the potential to damage cable inflation.

If this happens, an open cable can cause a short circuit to the ground, causing a 60-am main screen break. This allows motorcycles to lose power and cannot be revived which increases the risk of traffic accidents.

The brand from the country of Uncle Sam said that the motorbikes affected by this problem were production between 27 October 2023 and 18 July 2024. The motorcycles produced outside of this date were not affected.

Harley-Davidson introduced a secondary holding line to lift the cable series away from the corners of the engkol axis box so as to avoid abrasions or friction like the initial design. This revision came to his ranks on July 29.

The manufacturer has notified a network of dealers regarding the withdrawal between September 16-20 and has contacted the vehicle owner between September 23-27.

Vehicle owners must also contact the local authorized dealer to arrange a free withdrawal service to customers. The technicians there will check the voltage control cable from the damage.

The mechanics will do various things so that the cable does not rub into the engine sector, one of which is to provide a retaining rope to prevent damage or replace the cable series in the event of damage.
