Macau Open 2024: 2 Indonesian Representatives Hold Runner Up Titles

JAKARTA - Two Indonesian representatives who competed in the final of the Macau Open 2024 have not succeeded in securing the main podium. Men's doubles and mixed doubles representatives of Merah Putih were stuck in the runner-up position after facing each opponent.

Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi who competed in the men's doubles must face representatives of China, Chen Xu Jun/Liu Yi. Appearing in the final round which was held at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, Sunday, September 29 afternoon, Sabar/Reza bowed from the opponent after going through two fierce games.

In that match, Sabar/Reza fell behind after the opponent grabbed four consecutive points. After being far behind, the Indonesian pair began to get point by point to turn ahead by winning several additional points.

Unfortunately, Sabar/Reza were then left behind again at the interval interval with a score of 9-11. After the interval break, Sabar/Reza did not succeed in following and finally lost the first game with a score of 18-21.

In the second game, Sabar/Reza took the lead by winning three consecutive points. However, Indonesia's representatives were then overtaken and again left behind at the interval gap with a score of 7-11.

After the game break, Sabar/Reza tried to add points. However, their efforts did not produce good results.

The Indonesian pair finally fell with a score of 18-21, 14-21 at the end of the second half. This result ensures that Sabar/Reza must be satisfied with the runner-up position, while Chen/Liu win the title.

In addition to Sabar/Reza who appeared in the men's doubles number, one other Indonesian representative also appeared in the mixed doubles number. Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja also first fought to secure the title at the Macau Open 2024. However, their appearance, which opened up the struggle in this final round, ran aground.

Dejan/Gloria were also only able to secure runner-up titles in the mixed doubles sector after falling from Chinese representatives, Gao Xinwa/Chen Fanghui with final scores 15-21 and 18-21.
