Jorge Martin Accident At The Mandalika 2024 MotoGP Sprint, Wants To Check The Track

JAKARTA - Jorger Martin did not get points after ending the 2024 Mandalika MotoGP Sprint Race in 10th position on Saturday, 28 September 2024, noon WIB.

He got that position because he had fallen at the end of the first lap while leading the Sprint Race. Martin was then thrown into 15th place before successfully repairing it.

The Pramac Ducati Racing racer said the accident when he left the leading position was difficult to understand.

After the race, he said he wanted to check if there was a problem with the corner where he fell.

"Well, you can see I fell. It's hard to understand why I fell. I've checked and everything is normal."

"So, there must be something to change. I will examine it more deeply and understand not to make the same mistake tomorrow (the main stage)," Martin said.

Previously, Martin dominated the qualification with a new lap record to claim pole position position on Saturday morning WIB.

He then led the Sprint Race from the start, and even managed to escape. Unfortunately, Martin fell at Turn 16, which made Francesco Bagnaia take over first place and finally won an important victory.

Martin can continue the Sprint Race. However, he failed to get points so that the distance of points in the standings with Bagnaia was only 12 points.

In fact, previously Martin led the drivers' standings with a difference of 24 points from Bagnaia.

There are allegations that Martin's accident was caused by a Michelin 2024 rear tire that had a tendency to push the front harder when braking due to better grip.

It was previously known that the tires had caused a number of accidents this season. However, Martin is not sure this happened due to a tire problem.

"I don't think I've reached the limit. If this is the theory, qualifications could be much worse."

"I feel qualification is fine and I feel like everything is fine in the race."

"I fell and I finished 10th by overtaking 10 riders or more. So, of course, I had to change the set-up to adapt to the tires, but now the balance looks fine."

"I felt over the weekend that everything was fine and I was able to go straight from the first round."

"During the race, it seemed that I had a little difficulty heating up the tires. So, it was a bit strange. However, after that everything went well," said Martin.

Jorge Martin has ambitions to perform better in the main MotoGP 2024 race, Sunday, September 29, 2024, to distance himself from Bagnaia again.
