Saudi Arabia Forms International Alliance To Establish Palestinian Countries

JAKARTA - Saudi Arabia has announced the formation of an international alliance aimed at establishing a Palestinian state and implementing a two-state solution.

On behalf of Arab and Islamic countries, together with our European partners, we announce the launch of the International Alliance to Implement Two-State Solutions," Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan told ANTARA from Anadolu, Friday, September 27. "We invite you to join this initiative," he said at a ministerial meeting.

While speaking on the sidelines of a series of UN General Assembly sessions in New York on Palestinian issues and peace efforts, Foreign Minister Zaisal did not elaborate on the alliance.

Faisal, meanwhile, has threatened a devastating humanitarian crisis caused by war in Gaza as well as gross violations by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

He described Israel's actions as part of a broader policy of the occupation and extremism of violence.

"The right to self-defense cannot justify the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, systematic destruction, forced transfer, the use of hunger as weapons of war, incitement of hatred, dehumanization," he said.

"... or the use of systematic torture, including documented sexual violence and other crimes according to the UN report," he said.

Regarding the increase in violence in the region, including Israel's continuing attacks in Lebanon, Faisal warned of a wider potential conflict.

According to him, the world is witnessing an increase in tensions that endanger the Lebanese people and trigger a possible war that endangers the region and the rest of the world.

Faisal also urged an immediate cessation of the ongoing war and all violations of international law. Faisal also questioned the credibility of the international system.

Faisal reiterated that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the fundamental right and foundation of peace, not just the final result that must be negotiated in the long-term political process.

"We commend the countries that recently recognized Palestine and we call on all countries to show courage and take the same steps, join the international consensus represented by 149 countries that have recognized Palestine," he said.
