Polda Metro Check 17 Witnesses Behind The Alexander Marwata-Eks Meeting Of The Head Of Yogyakarta Customs And Excise

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya is investigating the alleged violation of Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata for meeting with the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs, Eko Darmanto.

The latest development, 17 witnesses have been examined to uncover the case.

"A clarification or request for information has been made against 17 witnesses in handling the a quo case," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Ade Safri Simanjuntak, to reporters, Friday, September 27.

The alleged criminal act in question is direct or indirect relations committed by the KPK leadership with suspects or other parties who are related to corruption cases handled by anti-corruption agencies.

During the meeting, the KPK was investigating Eko Darmanto in a case of alleged gratification and money laundering (TPPU).

Regarding the witnesses who have been examined, Ade did not specify his identity. It was only emphasized if a series of examinations were to find out whether there was a criminal offense.

"The investigation that is currently being carried out by the investigation team of the Tipidkor Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya is in order to find and find an event suspected of being a criminal act," he said.

Although he did not explain much about the progress of handling the case, Ade conveyed that the investigation of the case began with a public complaint (dumas) received in March 2023. This report was followed up by conducting a series of investigations.

"The Dumas that we received has made a series of efforts to follow up on the dumas in question, namely verifying, making dumas assessments, collecting information materials and making Information Reports (LI)," he said.

Based on the information report, an investigation warrant was issued which is the basis for the investigation.

"On the basis of LI, an Investigation and springas Order was issued on April 5, 2024 and has been renewed or extended on September 9, 2024," said Ade.
