Disappointed Minister Of Religion Yaqut Absent At Important Meetings, DPR: Unworthy Considered For Those To Come

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII DPR from the PKB faction Marwan Dasopang expressed his disappointment with the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas who was again absent from the working meeting at the DPR to discuss the evaluation of the 2024 Hajj implementation.

According to Marwan, Yaqut is not worthy of further consideration to become a minister in the next government.

"We feel a bit sorry for the Ministry of Religion if asked for what reason? One, written in carrying out state duties. But the task changes. Right, those who explain it are also embarrassed. Meanwhile, others mentioned that in the discussion, not in the letter, the letter was in Dubai, they did not get tickets (airplanes to Indonesia, ed)," said Marwan in a working meeting in the House of Representatives Commission VIII room, November 27.

Marwan assessed that whatever the reason for Minister of Religion Yaqut not to attend the Hajj meeting was irrelevant. Because his party had long scheduled a working meeting agenda with the Minister of Religion and even I was invited to the second after failing a meeting on Monday, September 23.

"So there will be time to clean up. Therefore, we are not considering it anymore because the law also sounds like that. The one who reported it was the minister. There was no other clause, for example being unable to do that. Nothing about it," said Marwan.

"Well, so there are two things. One, the Special Committee also did not come. Second, the Commission did not come. The substance is similar. What will be accounted for," continued the PKB legislator.

Therefore, Marwan considered that Yaqut was not worthy of further consideration as a role model or public official or even a minister in the next government. The reason is, Yaqut is considered unable to account for the Minister of Religion at the end of his term of office.

"For us, yes, this is also an irony. There are figures, there are ministers who cannot complete their duties properly.

Because this task is very related to the future. There may be irresponsible accountability, but it's broken. This one doesn't break," he said.

"He's not left behind for the ministers to come. I don't think it's worth considering as a figure for the people to come," said Marwan.

For the actions of Minister of Religion Yaqut who was reluctant to attend this last and important meeting, Commission VIII of the DPR only received a written report regarding the accountability for the implementation of the Hajj from related parties. However, there is no conclusion and recommendation from the results of the evaluation for the next period.

"We cannot impose sanctions. What sanctions do we want to give? Those who have the right to impose sanctions are the President. And the upcoming political policy. Or it can be recommended to the President that? There is no need to be recommended. But with this fact a recommendation. That he will already be summoned," he concluded.
