Kominfo Calls Indonesia's Achievements In The Post, Telecommunication, And Broadcasting Sectors
BANDUNG - Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, said that the development of the post, telecommunication and broadcasting sectors has made a lot of progress, especially in the last 10 years.
Among other things, we saw that in 2014, for example, our internet penetration was still around 34 percent of the total population in 2014. Now it has reached almost 80 percent in 2024," said Nezar after the 79th Bhakti Postel Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Head Office of PT Pos Indonesia in Bandung, Friday, September 27.
Nezar also explained that until 2022, postal services had increased with the number of post offices reaching 16,984 points throughout Indonesia.
In addition, the reach of postal services has also reached 100 percent of cities/districts, almost 100 percent in sub-districts, and has reached as many as 940 remote locations in Indonesia.
In fact, to accelerate the distribution of internet networks throughout Indonesia, especially in the 3T region, the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information has carried out telecommunications infrastructure development at three levels starting from backbone, middle mile, and last mile.
At the backbone level, the Palapa Ring fiber optic cable network has been deployed, whose utilization level has reached 766 Gbps.
