155 Indonesian Citizens In Lebanon, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs And TNI Prepare Evacuation Scheme

JAKARTA - A number of countries have asked their citizens in Lebanon to leave the country immediately. This is in line with the increasingly heated conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.

Currently, 155 Indonesian citizens (WNI) live in Lebanon. Those who are still surviving in Lebanon are generally students and Indonesian citizens who have married local residents.

For this reason, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) revealed that the TNI is ready to evacuate Indonesian citizens in Lebanon. Currently, there are a number of TNI troops joining the UN Peace Forces in Lebanon or UNIFIL. Currently, there are approximately 1,000 TNI members serving in the Lebanese UNIFIL.

The Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHI of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha revealed that a meeting between his party and the TNI had been held. The meeting discussed the protection of Indonesian citizens in Lebanon to the condition of TNI soldiers in UNIFIL.

"If the situation is getting resolved, TNI troops at UNIFIL are ready to provide support for the evacuation process of Indonesian citizens in Lebanon," said Judha, Thursday, September 26, as reported by ANTARA.

Coordination with UNIFIL Force Commander will be carried out in the process of evacuating Indonesian citizens, if indeed the evacuation is carried out by TNI troops at UNIFIL.

Currently, Israel often conducts airstrikes against Lebanon. Israel's pretext is to pursue Hezbollah.

As a result of this Israeli aggression, the death toll has approached 610 people. Meanwhile, 2,000 civilians were injured. This Israeli attack forced tens of thousands of people in Lebanon to flee.

Therefore, the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut has set Alert 1 status for Indonesian citizens in Lebanon. Indonesian citizens were also asked to postpone their departure to Lebanon, also to Israel.
