Project Mandator In Ambon Finds Mortar 60 Commands When Disposing Of Land

The bomb disposal team from the Gegana Detachment of the Maluku Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit secured one unit of mortar-type explosives 60 command findings from residents.

This dangerous object was found by residents at the project site in Batu Merah Village, RT01/RW04 Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Sirimau District, Ambon City.

"The discovery of mortars was discovered by Sirimau Police personnel this morning. A number of personnel then went to the TKP and immediately installed a police line," said Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes Pol Areis Aminundla in Ambon, Thursday.

After securing the crime scene, Sirimau Police personnel then contacted the Gegana Detachment. The bomb disposal team immediately went to the TKP and sterilized the discovery area.

"The explosives found were 60 command mortars. Currently, they have been secured at the headquarters of the Maluku Police Mobile Brigade," he said.

The mortar was first discovered by Viktor Tuhumuri, 21 years old. This Latulat resident, who worked as a laborer, found the explosives when the excavator's heavy equipment excavated the ground on Thursday, September 16, 2024 at around 11.30 WIT.

Initially, the object was thought to be scrap metal. Victor had told the project foreman. But they did not know that the object was a bomb, so they told the witness to keep it and then sell it to an old ironman.

"Then the witness moved the item and cleaned the soil attached to 60 Command mortars. The object was then transferred to a safe place to sell it to an old iron buyer," he said.

The mortar will then be sold after the buyer of scrap metal arrived this morning at around 09.00 WIT. However, when they found out that the object was a bomb, it was then submitted to Aipda Muhajir, a member of the Ambon Police Dokkes.

"After seeing the object, the witness then contacted members of the Ambon Police picket and Sirimau Police. Mortir has now been taken to the Maluku Police Satbrimob and will then be destroyed (Disposal)," he said.
