Trying Aion Y Plus The Jakarta-Bandung-Jakarta Route, This Is The Complete Review

JAKARTA Electric car manufacturer from China, Aion, has just launched a number of environmentally friendly vehicle models in Indonesia, one of which is Aion Y Plus. Shortly after the launch, the VOI team had the opportunity to try out this compact SUV directly with the Jakarta-Bandung route, then return to Jakarta. Then, what is the sensation of driving with this electric car? Here's the full review.

Design

Before discussing driving experience, let's look at the design of Aion Y Plus. Externally, this car appears stylish, especially with a futuristic "Angle's Wings" front light and a "Skyline Through-Type" rearlight that adds to the modern impression. This car has dimensions of 4,535 mm x 1,870 mm x 1,650 mm with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, which can accommodate five passengers. This size makes it look spacious and proportional to SUVs in its class.

In the interior, Aion Y Plus offers a wide and flexible cabin space. The long wheelbase makes the cabin feel relieved, while the front seat can be flattened in the back seat, providing extra comfort when the vehicle is quiet.

Feelings of Driving

The journey starts from Jakarta, to be precise at Aion dealers in Jati Padang. When you become a passenger, the comfort is immediately felt, with a spacious space and a very comfortable sitting position, especially because of an electric seat that makes it easier to adjust your position. When crossing the MBZ flyover, the suspension feels a bit harsh but still within the tolerance limit, without a convex effect.

When the VOI team took over the wheel at KM 72 to GIIAS Bandung, Aion Y Plus provided a comfortable driving experience. There are several physical buttons that make it easy to control, while some other features are arranged through a 14.6-inch head unit. However, there is one thing that is a little annoying, namely the sound of tires from outside that is quite heard in the cabin.

Features

Aion Y Plus is equipped with various advanced features, such as i-pedal "Single Pedal" which allows acceleration and deseleration with only one pedal. Other features include a CCS2 type plug, early keyless, smart voice control system, 360$ panoramic view, and ADAS level 2. This car is also equipped with complete safety technology, such as ABS, Electronic Braking System (ESP), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), dual airbags fronts, ISOFIX, Track Control System, Cruise Control, 360 HD camera, rear parking sensor, and TPMS.

Variants and Performance

Aion Y Plus comes in two variants: Exclusive and Premium. Both have a 201-hp electric motor and a 225-Nm torque. The main difference lies in the battery capacity, where the Exclusive variant uses a lithium ferro-phosphate (LFP) battery with a capacity of 50.6 kWh with a distance of 410 km, while the Premium variant has a 63.2 kWh battery with a distance of up to 490 km. The price of Aion Y Plus ranges from Rp415 million to Rp475 million.

Conclusion

Overall, Aion Y Plus offers a wide cabin and good driving convenience. Steady handling makes this car feel good to drive. However, the sound of tires entering the cabin although not loud but quite annoying.
