Peugeot 408 Will Present Next Month's Electric Version At The Paris Motor Show

JAKARTA - An automotive brand from France, Peugeot, announced that it will launch an electric version of the 408 crossover at the Paris Motor Show 2024 next month.

The presence of this model also strengthens the brand's position in increasing the choice of pure electric vehicles in the European market in the medium term.

Launching from Autocar, Thursday, September 26, the car, which will be named E-408, is expected to carry the same powertrain as E-308 with an electric motor embedded in the 154 dk-powered front which makes it accelerated from 0 to 100 km/hour in 9.8 seconds.

Then, this system will work together with a 54 kWh battery package that has a distance capacity of up to 267 miles or the equivalent of 429 km in one charge and can be charged with a 100 kW DC fast-charging device.

It is estimated that E-408 will sell for around 40,000 or equivalent to IDR 810.8 million and is ready to compete with models such as the Tesla Model Y which are priced at 44,990 pounds (equivalent to IDR 912 million).

Most likely this crossover will be equipped with an advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) system by utilizing ChatGPT, which will become a new standard for the latest Peugeot brand vehicle.

The ChatGPT system will be integrated in i-Cockpit. By saying "OK Peugeot", users can ask questions and get answers and other innovative features from ChatGPT. This technology was tested earlier this year by involving more than 10,000 customers.

ChatGPT is now available in several models, one of which is 408. By the end of this year, the system will also be available on models 3008 and 5008. Vehicle owners can make over-the-air updates to get this technology without the need to visit dealers.

The lion logo brand has presented this system in several markets in Europe, including Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and England.
