Police Investigate Case Of Sexual Abuse At Trenggalek Islamic Boarding School

The Trenggalek Police are investigating allegations of sexual harassment by religious teachers or caregivers of Islamic boarding schools in the Kampak District, Trenggalek Regency, East Java.

"We are investigating by asking for statements from witnesses, including the alleged reporter," said Trenggalek Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Zainul Abidin as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 26.

The case caught the public's attention and several times sparked mass action in the hut and village hall where the case occurred.

The police, continued Zainul, had asked witnesses for statements and collected evidence to reveal the alleged abuse case.

The move was taken to strengthen the legal basis that will be used to deal with the case.

"In the early stages of the investigation, we have examined a number of witnesses to obtain in-depth information," he added.

His party said that they were still investigating the case as a whole so that the facts on the ground were strongest to uncover cases that are now of public concern.

"The team is still working in the field to reveal the clearness of the alleged case," he said.

The police report began with a confession from a female student at the Trenggalek Islamic boarding school who was pregnant and gave birth to a baby who is currently more than two months old.

The victim's parents, with the initials WT, a resident of Kampak District, reported the incident when they heard his son's confession.

Some time earlier, WT gave information to the media that one of the board of the cottage was a responsible figure.

The victim's parents admitted that they wanted justice and hoped that the case would be revealed soon so as not to cause unrest in the community.

"I want the legal process to run fairly and the perpetrators to be found and processed according to the applicable law," he said.
