Bosch And KTM Present Advanced Radar Technology To Improve Driving Safety

JAKARTA A leading technology company from Germany, Bosch is developing an innovative system designed to provide more comfort and security for motorcyclists on the highway. One of their latest innovations is a radar system that can automatically stop motorcycles to prevent accidents.

This technology works by adding pressure on brakes to prevent collisions and alerting other road users if they are too close to the surrounding vehicles. In the development of this sophisticated system, Bosch collaborates with KTM, the Austrian motorcycle brand. Geoff Liersch, President of Two-Wheeler and Powerport Bosch, stated that this partnership allows the two companies to share important insights into safety.

"I think, both Bosch and KTM have the same vision in advancing safety technology, but still maintain pleasure in driving," Liersch said as quoted by Motorcyclenews, Thursday, September 26.

This system will debut in the second generation Advanced Rider Assistance System (ARAS), which utilizes advanced radar. This technology will be first adopted by the V-twin-engine Super Adventure KTM model, complete with AMT semi-automatic gyrboks.

Not only that, this innovation is part of six leading technologies that are ready to be applied to the latest KTM motors. The Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) feature also gets improvements, one of which is the addition of the Group Ride Assist (GRA). GRA allows motorists to monitor the movement of other motorbikes in groups, making it easier to anticipate lane changes.

The ACC feature is even more sophisticated with the Stop & Go function, where the motor can stop completely when approaching the vehicle in front and again traveling with one touch of the button, suitable for heavy traffic conditions.

No less important, the Near Collision Warning feature comes to warn through a rear hazard light, reducing the risk of a collision from behind. There is also Rear Distance Warning that monitors the distance between the vehicles behind and notifies the dashboard if the distance is too close.
