Police Name 9 Suspects In Student Persecution Case To Death In Tasikmalaya

TASIKMALAYA - The Tasikmalaya City Police have named nine suspects in the case of a student who died as a result of being persecuted on Jalan Mashudi, Cibeureum District, Tasikmalaya City, West Java.

"We have named nine suspects in the case of the death of a student," said Tasikmalaya Police Chief AKBP Joko Sulistiono, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 25.

He said the victim's initials GG (14) was a student who experienced abuse until he died on Jalan Mashudi, Cibeureum District, Tasikmalaya City, Sunday (22/9/2024).

Of the nine suspects, six of them are minors.

"Meanwhile, the other six suspects are still minors, so we don't show them," he said.

He conveyed that the results of the investigation by the joint team of the Tasikmalaya City Police and the Cibeureum Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to uncover the case of the death of a student, whose report was originally a traffic accident victim.

The police, he said, finally managed to uncover the case of the student's death, which turned out to be not a traffic accident but persecution.

"For evidence, there is a wooden block measuring 7x3 in diameter with a length of one meter, pieces of bamboo have been destroyed by one meter, three stones, two white stones, the victim's clothes and pants," he said.

The chronology of the incident that killed the student began when the suspects waited on the side of the road by preparing tools in the form of wood, bamboo, and stones.

When the victim and his friend crossed the streets using a motorbike, said the Police Chief, the suspect immediately threw stones at the victim, until he finally fell and there was persecution.

"The victim's motorbike fell, after that the suspects approached the victim and immediately carried out physical violence against the victim until the victim was unconscious," he said.

The suspect, after molesting him, immediately left the helpless victim, until he was finally found dead, and another victim suffered injuries.

"After that the suspect left the crime scene, and when he was found dead, and another suffered injuries," he said.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 80 of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning amendments to Law No. 23 of 2024 concerning Child Protection, and Article 170 paragraph 2 of 3E of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment of 12 years.
