The National Police Chief Concerning The Aceh-North PON: If There Are Findings Of Violations, The Law Will Be Followed Up
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said his party was reviewing the alleged misappropriation of funds for the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week.
"If there are findings that have the potential to violate the law, of course the law enforcement officers involved in them, the Attorney General's Office and the Police, and others will hold meetings, (discussing, ed.) what steps we will take," said Sigit as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 25.
The National Police Chief explained that the study included investigations into violations of the law, budget delays, and others.
The National Police Chief said the police were committed to guarding the alleged misappropriation of the funds in accordance with the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 24 of 2024 concerning the XXI 2024 PON Implementation Guard Task Force in Aceh and North Sumatra and the XVII 2024 National Paralympic Week in Central Java.
Previously, the National Police confirmed that they had sent a team from the task force consisting of the Aceh Police and North Sumatra to deal with the problems that occurred in the XXI PON implementation.

Head of the Public Information Section of the National Police's Public Relations Division, Kombes Erdi A Chaniago, explained that the National Police received information from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the public, regarding inadequate PON facilities, even though the competition had taken place.
Therefore, Erdi continued, based on the information and reports, the National Police formed a Task Force consisting of Bareskrim, Aceh Police, and North Sumatra Police, in order to assist and monitor indications of corruption cases or not.
"The National Police formed a mentoring task force team, and currently Bareskrim investigators are coordinating together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, AGO, and BPKP (Financial and Development Supervisory Agency) in order to find corruption in PON activities," he said.
