Four Motorcycle Thieves At PIK Threatened With 12 Years In Prison

JAKARTA A total of six people were injured as a result of being stabbed by a motorcycle thief in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area. Luckily, from this incident that recently occurred, four perpetrators have been arrested and become suspects.

"There were six victims who were stabbed when the perpetrator carried out their actions, namely four security guards and two civilians," said North Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP Wahyudi, Wednesday, September 25.

Four perpetrators with the initials IF, AA, MA, and DF, were detained with evidence of sharp weapons and air softguns.

Wahyudi said that the four perpetrators were charged with multiple layers of articles, namely Article 363 paragraphs 1 ke3e and 4e of the Criminal Code, Article 365 of the Criminal Code, Article 170 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code and Article 2 paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951.

"The four perpetrators are threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 12 years," he said.

He explained that this arrest began with the theft of a motorcycle in the VIP Urban Farm Golf Island parking lot at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) on Friday, September 20, at around 13.19 WIB by suspects IF, MA, AZ, and DF.

On Saturday, September 21, security officers suspected two people riding motorbikes across the PIK area and they took the initiative to try to follow the perpetrators AZ and MA.

Security officers continued to follow motorbikes and communicate with the Penjaringan Police because the perpetrator tried to escape.

Officers chased and narrowed their space and finally both left their motorbikes and ran to seize the motorbikes of other residents at the location.

This perpetrator slashed other motorists to take off their motorbikes. It didn't work, they tried to stop another motorcyclist by threatening to use a machete.

"This victim was surrounded by a machete in the neck and forced to hand over the motorbike to the two perpetrators. The perpetrator then ran and was chased by officers and carried out a siege so that both of them gave up," he said.

Officers secured a number of evidences in the form of two motorbikes, one air soft gun, two gas cylinders, 13 sewer bullets, a letter t key handle, eight number plates and money from the crime of Rp. 5 million.

"This is an extraordinary case because the perpetrators dare to act in crowds using sharp weapons in carrying out their actions," he said.

He appealed to the public to always be careful and vigilant by using double locks for motorbikes.

"There are a number of motorbikes that are easy to steal and with double locks it will minimize theft," he said.
